  • Pay it Forward and Win

Wildekrans is standing behind a very special cause, one very close to our hearts. As some of you may know, the Harlow family, owners of Wildekrans Wine Estate, tragically lost their son and brother, Timothy in April 2013.

The Harlow family set up a non-profit organisation to continue the selfless giving legacy of Tim: The Timothy James Harlow Foundation (TJHF).

The Timothy James Harlow Foundation is all about growing and creating opportunities. To keep honouring Tim’s legacy, we are running a PAY IT FORWARD COMPETITION.

To stand a chance to WIN a weekend away at Wildekrans Wine Estate follow the instructions below:-

    • Find our special seat, currently at The Restaurant at Wildekrans. (This seat will be moved to a new location every 2 weeks during this campaign).

    • Think about an organisation that you will commit to help in whatever way possible. (Our special seat is a good place to sit and think!)

    • Get a photo of yourself with the seat and upload it onto social media.

    • Tag @wildekrans, and @theTJHFoundation

    • Use the hashtag #PayItForward, and mention the organisation that you are going to do something nice for.

Remember, to Pay it Forward does not necessarily mean you need to donate money to a cause. You could help with your time, skills, or a donation of much-needed items. You can choose any cause that is close to your heart. This is all about giving something back.

Competition runs from 15 January 2020 – 23rd March 2020. Winners will be chosen on the 25th March and contacted directly.

For more info on the The Timothy James Harlow Foundation, please visit the Facebook page.

  • Big ‘GEES’ for Wines2Whales

We absolutely love it when it’s Wines2Whales time, and everyone gets a chance to get on their bikes and try the trails, or simply just support and cheer. This year, the very aptly named Pinotage leg passed through Wildekrans, and the theme for the leg was #SeriousGEES (serious festive atmosphere, fun). We certainly gave the theme our all at our ‘water’ point, with wine-tasting and our staff getting wholeheartedly into the spirit!

If you want to see what GEES actually is (as the English translation of this Afrikaans word simply does not do it justice), then take a look at this fabulous video clip, kindly created by Bigshot Media.

Thank you to all the supporters, riders and sponsors for such a great event, and well done to everyone who took part – on or off the saddle.

  • A Veritas Double Gold!

We were really honoured to attend the Veritas Awards on Friday, and our wines did exceptionally well, with every wine we entered winning a medal! We are most proud of the Double Gold we received for our Barrel Select Reserve Pinotage 2016!

A Double Gold is one of the most sought-after awards. The last time Wildekrans was awarded this honour was in 1995.

Our other winners were as follows:

Gold: Barrel Select Reserve Cape Blend 2016

    Silver: MCC Chenin Blanc 2015

    Silver: MCC Brut Rose 2016

Silver: Barrel Select Reserve Cabernet Franc 2018

Silver: Barrel Select Reserve Shiraz 2016

Bronze: Barrel Select Reserve Chenin Blanc 2017

Bronze: Barrel Select Reserve Pinot Noir 2018

As cited on their website: ‘Synonymous with excellence in wine and brandy, the Veritas Awards is the longest-running and most prestigious wine and brandy competition in South Africa, dating back to 1991.’

We thank them for the wonderful recognition.
